Ningbo University's Medical College Receives a Visit from the Consulate General of France in Shanghai

On September 18, Joan VALADOU, Consul General of France in Shanghai, led a delegation including Nicolas ASLAH (Political Consul and Press Consul), Benjamin DEMIERE (Education Consul), and Rachid MALTI (Science and Technology Consul) to visit the Medical College of Ningbo University. Professor Liu Yu, Executive Director of the Medical College, warmly received the delegation, and both parties conducted in-depth exchanges on deepening Sino-French cooperation in medical education and promoting the high-quality development of the Sino-French dual PhD program.

On behalf of the Medical College of Ningbo University, Liu Yu extended a warm welcome to Consul General Joan VALADOU and his delegation. She pointed out that the Medical College has a long history of cooperation with French universities and has achieved remarkable results, especially in the Sino-French Dual PhD Program in Clinical Medicine. A group of high-level medical talents with an international perspective have been cultivated through this program. Meanwhile, she gave a detailed introduction to the program's latest progress, innovative measures in its training model, and future development plans.

Joan VALADOU highly appreciated the efforts made and achievements obtained by the Medical College in Sino-French educational cooperation. He noted that medicine is a field of global common concern, and China and France have broad room for cooperation in medical education and scientific research. The Consulate General of France in Shanghai will, as always, support the cooperation between Ningbo University and French universities, and promote more breakthroughs in talent cultivation, scientific research innovation and other aspects between the two sides.

Professor Zhou Wenhua, representative of supervisors, stated that the program has not only improved students' research capabilities but also promoted academic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and French supervisors. Professor Guo Fei from Li Huili Hospital Affiliated to Ningbo University pointed out that through this program, PhD students can access cutting-edge science and broaden their international horizons. PhD student representatives such as Wang Fangmin and Xie Yaoyao shared their experiences and insights during their studies in France based on their own experiences, and expressed gratitude for the training opportunities provided by French universities.

It is reported that the Joint PhD Program in Clinical Medicine and Life Sciences, co-launched by Ningbo University and the University of Burgundy-Franche-Comté (France), is a Sino-foreign cooperative degree education program approved by the Ministry of Education. Up to now, the Sino-French program has trained 15 students in total, among whom 2 PhD students have successfully graduated, and the program is operating steadily.
